Fibonacci Spiral in a Nautilus Shell
There really is something extraordinary about the Fibonacci Spiral
This is a nice example of the inside of a nautilus shell. You can see the Fibonacci spiral plainly in the cross cut of the shell.
The Nautilus has been around for a long time, almost 450 million years, and the Nautilus is often referred to as a living fossil. The Nautilus shell is lined with a beutiful coating of nucre, or mother of pearl. As it grows larger, it grows larger chambers and gets moves into them As a nocturnal creature it spends the vast majority of its life in the deep ocean, floating around by pushing water into it’s vacant chambers.
